Awakening of Devi Devtas -(Bhairav)

BHAIRAV

In the mountainous region, the concept of Devi and Devtas is widely prevalent among the people. They preserve them as their family members, but how do they do it? Is it just a myth or an ancient science that most of us are unaware of? Before delving deeper into this, we must understand how it works. There are special people called Gurus who have been carrying this ancient science for generations. The key point is that they learned it through verbal communication from their forefathers, as there are no written documents. This ancient technique helps preserve our connection with Devi and Devtas. But who are these people? They generally come from the underprivileged class in society, and throughout ancient times, the art of preservation was passed down to them. The artisans and ironsmiths were believed to have a deep connection to the elements of nature, embodying them in their work. Similarly, the deities we worship are also seen as a combination of these elements, reflecting their nature. These skilled individuals practiced an ancient science, specializing in performing specific rituals. Over time, these techniques were passed on to the privileged class and eventually became accessible to other segments of society.

Awakening of the "Bhairav"
As we know, Bhairav holds a special place in the culture, and people are devoted to him while also fearing his rage. The awakening of Bhairav is marked by a special ritual performed during the night, beginning with a "Jagar." Bhairav Jagar is considered one of the most intense Jagars. After the Jagar, the guru arranges certain rituals. Firstly, the guru takes a clay pot and fills it with cloves, betel nuts, rice, black lentils, coal, flour mixed with water, black cloth, alcohol, and the five elements: gold, copper, silver, iron, and brass. Then, the pot is covered with red cloth after chanting certain mantras.
First, the Bhairav Yantra is established in a pit, and an animal is given as an offering to Bhairav to awaken him. Following this, a pot is placed directly above the Yantra in the pit, and the pit is covered with mud. Chantings for awakening Bhairav are then recited in the local language, which includes calling upon 8 Bhairavs, 52 Veers, Kalwa, and even Masaan.

After the rituals are performed, the iron trishul is placed right above the covered pit, and even a small oval-shaped stone is placed as the symbol of Bhairav. Now, people often refer to him as Bhumiyal, the protector of the land, and go to him to seek justice.
